“Collisions of values are of the essence of what they are and what we are…the world in which what we see as incompatible values are not in conflict is a world altogether beyond our ken; …it is on earth that we live, and it is here that we must believe and act.”

Isaiah Berlin, The Crooked Timber of Humanity

Welcome to the Global Governance and Sovereignty Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting effective global governance and advocating for the legitimate interests of states. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected and interdependent, the importance of sovereignty remains significant, but its interpretation and application have evolved with the world’s changing dynamics.

At the Foundation, we believe that states must balance their sovereign interests with the need to cooperate and collaborate with other actors in the global system to address global challenges that require collective action. That is why we focus on research programs in Global Affairs, Economics and Development, and New Tech & Innovation, providing valuable insights into the complex interactions and dynamics between different stakeholders in the global system.

Our mission is to identify policies and practices that can promote sustainable development, social justice, and respect for the sovereignty of states. Through in-depth analysis and gatherings, we aim to raise awareness and contribute to shaping policy decisions on critical global issues, particularly in Africa and the MENA region, where we are based.

Our Programs

Global Affairs: This research program aims to capture and analyze a wide range of political dynamics and interactions between the different stakeholders occurring across borders in an interconnected and interdependent world.

Economics and Development: This research program encompasses Growth, Trade, Finance, Infrastructure, Climate and Sustainability. It focuses on understanding the role of the different stakeholders in promoting economic development, identifying policies to enhance their effectiveness but also to improve people’s lives and support sustainable development

New Tech & Innovation: Information and Communication Technologies underpin innovation and competitiveness across private and public sectors and enable scientific progress in all disciplines. A number of essential policy objectives cannot be achieved without ICT innovation as it also invades and transforms bit by bit all aspects of our societies and economies and change the way people live and behave.
